Reviewing Analytical Report Analytics on the ASHP Site

Instructions for ASHP Surveyors to review and compare program data on the Annual Report Analytics dashboards.

This document explores two Annual Report Analytic dashboard options available to ASHP Surveyors:

Before You Begin

The ASHP Annual Residency Accreditation Report provides the ASHP Accreditation Services Office with important information about individual residency programs as well as aggregate data to identify trends in the pharmacy community. RPDs began completing the annual survey in PharmAcademic in 2018.

The Annual Report Analytic Dashboards in PharmAcademic were launched in 2024 and display each program's survey responses to key questions from the last 5 years and compares those responses with aggregate data from similar programs. The same data is available in the ASHP site in PharmAcademic along with additional dashboards to display consolidated program information.

Individual Program Data

Annual Report Analytics for individual programs are available to each program (and Surveyors during a survey) in the program’s dashboard, and the same data is available on the ASHP site.

To access individual program dashboards via the ASHP site:

  1. Log in to PharmAcademic and select ASHP in the “Access My Sites/Programs” drop down box.
  2. Go to the Annual Residency Accreditation Reports tab.
  3. Select Analytics.
  4. Select the radio button for “Individual Program Data.”
  5. Enter the accreditation code and click the Search button.

For instructions on using the program dashboard, go to Reviewing Annual Report Analytics.

Consolidated Program Data

Consolidated Program Data is only available on the ASHP site; it is not available to programs.

Instructions
1. Log in to PharmAcademic and select ASHP in the “Access My Sites/Programs” drop down box.
2. Go to the Annual Residency Accreditation Reports tab.
3. Select Analytics.
4. Select the radio button for “Consolidated Program Data.”
5. Select an Annual Report Topic from the drop-down:
  • Applicants vs. Available Positions
  • Resident Completion Rate
  • Reasons for Not Completing Program (only available on consolidated dashboard)
  • Preceptor and Resident Count
  • Resident Projects Resulting in Institutional Change
  • Percentage of Residents Taking Positions Requiring Residency Training
6. Filter the data by:
  • Program Type/Year
  • Model Type/Sub-Type
  • Bed Size

Note: For the first two filters, you can select the main category or sub-category. For example, click PGY1 for all PGY1 programs, or select “Community-Based Pharmacy” to only see data from PGY1 Community programs.

7. Review Consolidated Data.

  • Bar graph: Displays responses from last 5 years. Hover over the individual bars to see exact numbers. Note: Data is displayed by survey year, and the ASHP Annual Accreditation Report collects resident information from the previous residency year. For example, 2023-2024 on the bar graph represents the 2023-2024 survey, but resident data from the 2022-2023 residency year.
  • Table: Displays values from bar graph.
  • Hamburger Icon: Click to download the bar graph as an image or do

Dashboard Elements

The following elements will help you review and compare data:

  • Below the selected topic, you can view a description of the data for the selected topic.
  • Use the “Reset Selection” link to de-select the comparison data.
  • Under the graph’s title, you can see the selected segment(s).
  • When you use the hamburger icon to download an image/document of the graph, the selected segment(s) will be displayed.
  • Survey Date: Data is displayed by survey year, and the ASHP Annual Accreditation Report collects resident information from the previous residency year. For example, 2023-2024 on the bar graph represents the 2023-2024 survey, but resident data from the 2022-2023 residency year.
  • Under the graph is a legend to describe the selected data.
